Default Auto Start Change of Sequences

I have a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban LT. Yesterday I locked my keys in the car because of the auto start. I usually do the auto start outside of the vehicle, so i have to unlock the doors to get in. This time, a door was open, i hit the lock button, then the auto start. Then forgot my keys, shut the door and they were locked. Is there a way to change this so i don't do this in the future? Or a way to make is so that if a door is open when the lock is engaged, that door remains unlocked?

there is no easy, cheap way to do this.

If the door is open, start the truck with the key....as long as you don't manually push the lock button down the standard lock out feature will keep the drivers door unlocked with the key in the ignition.

Well, normally i do, but it was cold, windy and i was in the back getting my kids in the car. Stupid mistake, i was just curious if it could be changed. I didn't realize that if the door was open all the doors would love. I figured there was a fail safe if a door was open that door would stay open.

You can delay the lock. Check out page 4-76 of the owner’s manual. For your convenience, a digital copy of the manual is available at: http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Ownership/Manuals%20and%20Videos/02_pdf/2010_chevrolet_tahoeSuburban_owners%20(1).pdf
