avalanche plug wires
im tryin to replace spark plugs in my 06 avalanche.the plug wires are being stubborn and do not want to come off the old plugs..would it be easier when the engine is warm or cold?
don't do it hot, it will make it harder to unscrew the plug from the block.
remove the wire from the coil pack. this will make it easier to twist the wire on the plug... to break the plug wire from the ceramic part of the spark plug. then pull the wire out from the plug tower to unsnap it from the plug.
wear gloves to protect your hands from cuts which occur when the wires snap free from the plug. This is where a quality set of spark plug wire pliers pays for itself. I bought the best snap-on pliers available and it is worth it.

apply di-electric grease to the plug wires where they contact the ceramic insulator of the plug. this will help seal out moisture and stop the wire from baking onto the plug. This way it will come off easier next time.
