Backup Sensors + Camper=0

Backup Sensors + Camper=0
I have a 2012 3/4 Chevy pickup. I just recently added a small camper that does NOT extend beyond the back of the truck.
After adding the camper the backup sensors fail to work?? I called the camper manufacturer who said they didn't think they did anything but they would call Chevrolet.
They called me back and said the Chevy dealer said if you add weight in the bed and bring the level down some the sensors won't work.
I find this very hard to believe since the truck only came down 3 inches MAX.
