bout to throw in the towel
whats up everyone!
havving some issues with my 02 silverado. im not bad with mechanical but car audio\video is my thing, ever get stuck just let me know. heres a basic rundown, last year both my cats plugged, i had them replaced. over about a year now ive had to put in a quart or 2 ev 2-3 months, but no leack at all and when it gets low i get the nasty lifter slaps. months back my ses light came on and i had it checked because after the truck warms up bout 15 minutes it starts missin o so bad at dead stops. thrown codes- crank sensor, MAF, and multiple misfire. i changed the crank sensor but did not know the relearn had to be done. that whole time on occasion when it did stumble on itself at redlight my oil pressure would fall far or bottom out. I had the relearn done a few days back. bout 2 hours later ses light again- multiple misfires. now the truck is running pretty bad after warmup, some people say it sounds like a diesel. Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Heres what i have done to try to fix it- new plugs, cap, wires, rotar, fuel filter, crank sensor, MAF, checked EGR valve. could it be oil pump or pickup tube, maybe screen, or is it elerctical or fuel making the oil drop because is running so bad? im real close to throwin in the towel on this one. hopefully someone out there knows what could be wrong with this beastly 4.3L...lol, oh yea truck is a 2002 also. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks, Robert

Hey man sorry about all of your troubles. It must really suck. You've got multiple systems that keep screwing up huh? As far as the oil I'm willing to bet that you're burning just a little bit. either by the rings or by the valve guides. That could cause catalyst damage or clogging. as far as the DTC's are concerned. I'd honestly have a look at the PCM. Make sure the grounds and power supplies are all connected right. If it's not that there are several things that could give you the problems you've got. Rough running at dead stops could be that either your o2 sesors aren't heating up or the Coolant temperature sensor reading is skewed causing your truck to run pretty much on warm up mode the whole time. There's a whole lot of other things that could cause this as well. Definately check out the PCM though. Hope that was a little bit of help.
