Default C2500 compressor kicking on/off

2000 C2500 pick up ac didn't work. Put some ac refrigerant in using gauge and ac works. Compressor now kicks on and off no matter if ac or heat is on or off. Has been doing this for 6 months now. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

This is usually a sign of low freon pressure. Are you sure you put enough freon into the system? Always check the simple things first to eliminate them as a cause.

knowing the pressures and/or how much refrigerant is in the system is the starting point for any a/c problem

It was a refrigerant issue. Thanks. I had a leak around a pressure switch. Had it replaced and vac'd and recharged and it started leaking some where else. It had some green dye in it that showed where it was leaking. I bought a can with the leak stop and a gauge on it. It sucked it up and so far it is working good again. No cycling.
