Default Car Audio

I recently installed an aftermarket stereo into my Chevy Malibu and it powers on perfectly. The only issue is the music being played alternates from speaker to speaker (one second music will be played in one speaker and silent in another). This seems to happen when I move around the factory stereo wiring harness. I checked my aftermarket wiring harness connections and everything seems fine. When looking at the factory wiring harness I see an exposed wire (attached picture). Could this be my problem? Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

This is the factory wiring harness, exposed wire is the green/white one on the left.

Reconnect that wire and see if the problem goes away. It's hard to tell, but there also looks like there is a blue wire in the background that might have the insulation stripped off.

The wire in the picture is connected. The blue one is my remote turn on which isn’t connected yet. There isn’t enough slack in the wire to cut behind the damaged area and reconnect. I don’t know how to go about it, maybe buying a new factory wiring harness.

You can cut out the damage and add a piece of wire to make up the difference.

Will just standard (same gage) copper wire be fine?

there are tools you can buy online for releasing individual wires from the connector housing. That would make the job easier. A small safety pin might work too.

Yea I’ve already released the pin, now it’s just a matter of finding a new pin and getting the right gauge wire.

Same gauge copper wire will be fine. Make sure it is a good solid connection.

I would keep the crimped terminal with wire attached. Just snip off the frayed bits of wire, and solder onto some fresh wire. Finding a new terminal will be difficult, and the you'll never crimp it on as well as the factory machine made one.

Yea that makes sense, but the frayed wire is super close to the terminal... I’ve been looking around sites for a terminal may have found a couple..
