I'm new here. Hope this Post is in the correct section.


I'm rebuilding my Chevy 350 (the numbers on the front of the block are: 15B 503 881 & K01 22 CMJ and on the rear are GM 3970010 K 12).

I have pulled out the Pistons and the cylinder sleeves have marks on them. The current Piston size is: 4.027" and the Bore size is: 4.032". Does this mean that the cylinder has been bored to .030 and I should now go to .040 or .060?

The Crankshaft has some marks on it as well so will need to be polished/bored.

The current measurements on the crankshaft are:
Conrod: 2.078
Main: 2.426.

How much should I have the Crankshaft polished/bored to and which size bearings do I upgrade to?


Since I'm in Fiji, I don't really have the option of getting a new block or Crankshaft.

I would take as much of it as you can to a machine shop. Since there are cars there, I'm sure you can find one. Might have to pay someone to mic your parts and advise but it would sure be worth it!

Its 30 over now from your measurements ,on inspection of the cylinder walls how do they look? If they are good you may only need to re-ring it.Depending on the type of rings installed when it was rebuilt.Chrome moly rings tend to wear the cylinders but cast rings wear out before the cylinder does and if those were in it you may be able to just hone out the cylinders and put some 30 over rings plus size in it that are just a few thousands over size.
On the crank getting a crank ground correctly is sometimes hard to do, it takes a top shop to do it. Can you just order a reground crank if its bad ? If it just needs polished get it miked and order undersize bearings. Be sure to replace cam lifters if replacing the cam ,New cam bearings help with the oil pressure but are near impossible to install without a cam bearing installer.I don't know what is wrong with your motor but I would consider just repairing whats wrong and wait on the rebuild till you get to the states or somewhere better to rebuild it
