A dangerous question
Maybe I'll get a little more traffic in this section
I've been working on a paper over the last few weeks trying to determine what role branding plays in certain consumer market. Obliviously here I am looking at branding in automotives. Here is the million doller question.
"Why do you not drive a different car?"
"Why don't you drive a Ford?"
Why don't you drive a Honda?"
I'm happy for as many responses as possible, but I only really need about three or four. I have put my e-mail address into my profile if you would like to keep these opinions private. If a running discourse if preferred I could send an AIM screen name upon request. Of course by responding to this question you may be quoted, by username, in the paper. Although unlikely, I will notify later on if it is to be published in any journal.
Thank you all in advance

I drive a 1985 Scotsdale 4X4 and a 2002 Ford Focus SVT.when I make a decision on a car purchase I'm somwhat performance oriented,..Will it do what I want without too much trouble. For my car I looked for good gas milage handeling and enough power to be fun too drive with room for friends or groceries and this led me to the SVT Focus wich had great handeling and MPG and is lacking in power but still fun to drive. For the truck I wanted somthing to haul light duty-houshold stuff 4wheeling and somthing to work on aftermarket for an old chevy truck seems pretty good especialy for a 350 motor.
on the brand loyalty I've usualy leaned towards ford on a daily driver becouse i've had good service out of them in the past.I like chevrolets at the same time and see positive and negative to both.
I do NOT plan on the next new vehicle I buy being either Cheverolet or Ford. Neither company is making anything I'm interested in for a price I can afford.Anew truck or car cost as much a full years pay for me what an inflated price and I'm a full time profesional..To top this off Ford puts their name on Jap cars and sells them here Cheverolet puts their name on Jap cars and sells them here.I'f neither Ford or Cheverolet has any brand loyalty to themselves why should I have it for them either.
If either company wishes to be a major part of the auto industry they will have to build a better product at a better price and start to build their respect back.
