Duramax non starter when warm
Hi, I have a Duramax Silverado which has trouble starting mainly when warm. There is no fuel smoke from Muffler
so there is a lack of fuel. To get started I give a 'sniff' of Carb Cleaner and it is OK, and runs as normal without any power loss,
but when stopped again it turns for a while (at best) before starting. This cannot be filters as there is no lack of power when running.
ANY IDEAS?

wat yr is ur duramax? the fuel filter housings r bad about getting a hairline crack and bleeding off pressure. try pumping that up until it has a lot of pressure on it and check to see if diesel is leaking from ur housing.
Hi John,
If fuel was contaminated, would this not be felt when running also. Once the truck is started it runs as sweet as a nut,
this is the strange thing. also, to get it stared I use 'Carb' cleaner, and once that has gone through, it would die
again if fuel was bad. Is there any way the pump itself can create a vacum preventing fuel flow when switched off?.
This problem does not show up on diagnostics because when it it started it thinks it is fine, and before it is started there isn't a problem.

sounds like u have gasoline in ur diesel. if it has to much gas it will lose it's prime cuz gasoline is to thin. drain the fuel out of ur filter and put it on some concrete and see if u can catch it on fire. if it lights up pretty quick then u have gas in ur diesel. i've had a few that they run really crappy and others that ran fine just had a hard start.
