Default edelbrock top end kit question

Hey guys, I'm new here so don't cuss me if this isn't in the right place. I'm about to begin building my first engine. I'm learning as I go and read more. Probably going with the scat 9000 balanced assembly . Does that mean I can put it right in, or do I still need to get it balanced? All info I find sorta goes both ways. Question number2 . The 350 top end kit will be fine for my 383 but, I could probably run a little more cam, is this correct? Why does edelbrock sell a Top end kit for a 1987 and later engine but not a 1986 and before? And why even sell it at all?

Sorry I ment a 87 and after 383 top end. And no pre 86 383 kit? Why not The regular 350 top end kit?
