Default EMP Protection

This may sound funny to some, but it is not to me. Regardless of political party, the threat is there. I want to prepare as best I can. I have a 2004 Impala and a 1995 Sliverado 4x4 manual transmission Truck. I understand that there is only one computer in my 95 truck and it is behind the glove box. My wife investigated a Faraday box to protect the 95's computer, but it seems to me by keeping the truck's battery disconnected, this may increase protecting from any EMP. An EMP would have to go through my house (garage) and metal cab of my truck. If not energized, would this help? I just keep truck as a back up. My wife has a Duramax that I know would be toast, having scores of micro computers. I suspect the 04 would suffer the same fate.
