hi guys i am new to this site but have been looking on here for a while now. i have a problem with my truck, i was out for a drive yesterday and for no reason my motor just died like someone pullin the plug. i could not get it started so had it towed home.
to cut a long story short i have no spark at the plugs, i have a delco remy HEI distributor fitted to my 350 small block chevy, i have 12v at the single wire connection so i guess it has something to do with the distributor. i know there are a few things in the distributor it might be but is there a common part that fails the way mine has.
can anyone help

 

Try the pickup in the distributor or coil. It is hard to diagnose from a distance need more information. What year is the truck?

 

hi, my truck is a 1950 3100 but with a 1972 350ci installed. what is the pickup, is it the part that plugs into the coil and sits under the rotor? i have to try and sorce one over here, shouldn`t be that hard it`s quite a common part...i think.

replaced the coil pack and module on the hei distributor and all is well. thanks for the help.
