Hello and Thank You all for allowing me to be a member here.I have a 1988 Chevy C 3500, VIN # 1GBGC34K8JE207604, with a Stahl utility box on the back. For a 1988, it's in pretty good shape. It has 82,000 miles on it. I am the 2nd. registered owner. It was previously owned by the Arizona DNR. I have had it since 2012.It runs excellent, but it only has a 5.7 L engine, so it walks more than it runs. Being a 1 ton, with the utility box, the 5.7 works a little hard. I would like to swap it out to a 7.4L if it's possible.My main question is, will the trans bolt up to a 7.4? What else would have to be changed to make this swap? The ECM? Your thoughts please?
