Default ever heard of a 4.4l v8?

I have a 82 el Camino and it's really really slow. Now I only knew about the 305 and 350, but not the 4.4. Can these make respectable power with an aftermarket intake, cam, heads, 4bbl carb, and full exhaust? Or should I swap to a 305/350?

" theres no replacment for displacment" just like "you aint building power useless your burning fuel" to burn more fuel you need more cold air and to get more cold air you need a turbo, or superchager.. you could always go the easy route and buy some spray you cant get any colder air then spray... just saying GO BIG OR GO HOME

But, speaking of cold air...
I am surprised that so many vehicles now are still drawing air from within the Engine Compartment.

So there's no working with what I have? You guys live by the "mines bigger than yours" mentality? I've looked around and there is almost no aftermarket support for the 4.4. I mean yeah theres some custom cams I could get along with an intake and headers, but that's kind of pointless without a set of good flowing heads I just can't find

Sorry about the off hand bandy, but there seems to be a consensus that you'd be better off going with one of the larger engines.
