Default Exhaust/carb issue

Hey guys! Newbie here! I've searched and searched for the answers I need but no luck! Here's my problem. 1985 K5, 350 with about 79k miles. Auto tranny. It's been running great! Well I wanted a more aggressive sound so I cut off my turbo mufflers and installed some 1 chamber flowmasters. After I finished I started it up and it wouldd barely idle. It eventually died and was a pain to crank back. Once I did get it started, I figured the carb needed adjusting. I turned both idle mixture screws in all the way. ( according to holley at this point engine should have been dying), but it did the opposite. It idled up and can't adjust it back done.. Any tips? Thanks!
