First Tire Rotation, No TPMS Light?
I just rotated the tires for the first time on my 2013 Chevy Traverse, LT. I heard about the TPMS error light when rotating, or getting new tires so I purchased a TPMS relearn tool from amazon. I was expecting the light to come on after I rotated the tires, but to my surprise there was no light. I read the owners manual and it has instructions for relearning the TPMS specific to each tire position, so I am confused. I'm assuming the TPMS is working fine. My questions are:
1. How can I be sure the TPMS is working correctly after the tire rotation?
2. (Two Part) Is it normal that the TPMS light does not come on after a tire rotation? Does this only come on with a new TPMS installed in new wheel/tire sets?
Any help or additional information about the TPMS on this vehicle would be appreciated. I'm not that familiar with the TPMS, I just want to make sure its working properly.
Thank you.

the tpm light will only come on if the pressure is low or due to a fault in the system. rotation will not cause an error. the only reason you need the tool is to tell the module which tire is a which location. if you run with the tires not learned to the new position the only thing you need to be aware of is when the light comes on....the wrong tire will get inspected.
some people don't bother to register my sensors after rotating....when a fault light comes on...they must check every tire.

Thank you for the reply and clearing that up for me. So, lets say I was to buy a separate brand new set of tires and wheels, and I order them with a TPMS for each wheel. I'm assuming the light would kick on because the TPMS on all the wheels are not original (regardless of pressure) correct? Then I would need the relearn tool to fix this? Thanks again.
correct. the tpm must be registered to the rcdlr module. that is what the tpm tool does. As long as the tpm is registered to the vehicle, it will work irregardless of position..
Since you have the tool, use it with every rotation. Then there will be no doubt on tire position if a problem occurs. the registering sequence must be done in order fl, fr, rr and lr

Ok, I get it now...thanks for all the help! I'll keep the tool since I plan on doing the rotations and then re-learning the tire position. Then if I get a set of snow tires with wheels, I will already have the tool to register the new tpms. Probably beats the cost of dealer re-learning the tires. Thanks again.
