Fuel pump hell GMC / Chevrolet
Hi all
I think this is the right place to post - I have a GMC/Chevrolet Dayvan 1988 G2500 5.7 litre - I am in UK.
The problem - the van appears to be eating up fuel pumps - it is on the third and that has now stopped working. We have done the tests in the book, AND replaced the module and the relay - still no buzz from the pump, but there is a clunk. Could there be another problem, or are the replacement pumps really that bad?
My other half is really discouraged and thinking of scrapping the van - I would be really grateful for any helpful suggestions to avoid being vanless!!
Thanks very much

Are you buying Delco or Delphi pumps? The cheap off brands usually do not last and not the worth the effort or money. Are you changing the filter? Are the fuel lines partially clogged? Have you changed the fuel pressure regulator? There are many more factors that could contribute to your problem.

Hi oldchevy - thanks for the help - have changed everything, but have now got the tank off (yet again - horrible job!!) and the filter has vanished, so that says it all. We're now waiting for the new parts and will hope the next pump lasts - thanks again to you
