OK this will take a bit. So here we go.

I got this truck when my Dad pass away. At the time the sending unit in the gas tank would work intermediately. I replaced the pump and sending unit because of this. About 6 months later the new pump quit working. I replaced the pump with another new one. It got to where it would act like the original, and the sending unit would work when it wanted to. I put up with that for a bit. Then the pump itself quit. About a week later after it quit I tried to crank it and it started up. The sending unit still not working correct. I have driven it about a year now, and the other day it quit again. After it had set about two hours it cranked up again. Its been just a few days now and it has quit again. I also noticed when it quit the gear selector light went out. Could this be a computer problem ? Strange that the light went out along with the pump.

 

sOUNDS like a ground wire problem.

 

Did you buy a cheap aftermarket pump? They usually don't last long.

 

No Its a Carter Pump But I found the problem. Wire at the connecter shorted out.
