I have a rather intriguing situation in my 97 Tahoe: When I fill up the gas gauge reads "FULL", but as the fuel level goes down, it seems to drop exponentially. In other words, I can go about 200 miles on the first 1/4 tank;about 100 on the next 1/4 (so 300 on the first 1/2 tank), then about 50 on the 3rd 1/4, etc. I am not sure where to start looking for the problem short of replacing the entire tank. Just looking for some feedback if anyone has experience with this.

 

Wow you are getting much better gas mileage than I am. I only wish I could get 350 miles on 3/4 of a tank. Mine also goes down quicker after it reaches the 1/2 mark. Probably your sending unit in the gas tank is going bad.
