i have a 01 silverado 1500 5.3 and my fuel gauge does not always work. sometimes it will go to the right amount of fuel and sometimes it goes to empty or full. how can i fix my gauge.

Chances are it isnt the gauge that is messed up, it is probably the sending unit that is giving off a bad reading.

Put in a new fuel pump. The sending unit is part of the fuel pump and you have to do the labor anyway so might as well change it now rather than having to do it again when the pump fails.
