Default headlight problems

my car is a 04 chevy optra LS dtech-16v with no accidents. my headlights work perfectly except when my car sits over night my battery gets drained by them, i know this from using a light tester and removing fuses and so i removed the two light bulbs and my batt stayed charged over night. is it the bulbs or the wiring? if it is the wiring any tips on how to find the short?

It is not the bulbs. It is either the switch or a short in the wiring. When you turn off the lights, do the bulbs turn off?

What kind of car? What year? What engine? What has been done to remedy the problem? Was it ever in an accident? You must provide critical info along with anything that maybe helpful if you want help. Most will overlook your post without it.

sorry, its a 2004 chevy optra LS dtec16v with no accidents and yes they turn off when i turn them off, when i removed the fuse the batt stayed perfectly charged. what would be the quickest way to find the short? I have the service manual for the car so i know where the wires are that i need to follow, ive just never done this before and want advice so i can do it right.
