Default Heater problem

I have just recently purchased an 05 1500. Great truck with almost no problems. The only thing that I can't live with is the heater. It takes over 45 minutes some mornings to get the truck to blow warm air. Any ideas of what I need to do to get it to work faster?

-verify the coolant level is not low.
-check for dtc...a p0128 being set usually means the thermostat is stuck open
-blocked heater core is another possible cause but I would start with the other suggestions first.

You could also have a sticky or broken blend door actuator.

Very good suggestions here !

But, have you done a independent check on your actual temp ?
Remove Rad Cap when cold, crank and use an A/C Thermometer to check the actual running temp. Should be about 185 deg.

Also, you could have captured some air in the heating segment.
When cold, remove Rad Cap, turn (all) heaters on full blast and let come up to temp. This may allow it to "burp" the air out. Do this in conjunction with temp check.

You may have to run a vacuum on the cooling system (some models) to remove captured air.
