Help!!
I accidently put my Ford key into my 2002 Trailblazer and in the process of trying to get it out, I messed up the ignition lock cylinder. I thought a new one would fix the problem, so I replaced it after watching some YouTube videos. Now, the key will not come out or start and the vehicle is stuck in park. After a little research, i read that it was likely the ignition switch which was an easy replace however, it made no difference as the vehicle still will not shift out of park, it will not start, the key is stuck still! I read that the gear teeth on the switch must align with the lock cylinder and i have tried changing them one tooth at a time trying to get it right but to no success. The vehicle ran perfectly and had no issues until i screwed up the ignition. Also, this key does not need programming according to Autozone.
If you have any ideas what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. Right now the car is in our driveway in back of the house and I may need to have it towed which could be difficult since the steering column is locked and it is locked into park.
