I am working a 1990 Bounder RV with a 454 in it. You turn the key over and motor turns great(new Battery), it just had new wires,plugs,cap,air filter installed by someone else. It pumps fuel fine ,but by the time the motor cranks it is flooded, pours out black smoke ,raw fuel. Motor will start to clear out after a few min. After warm up 30 min. of running it cranks and runs ok. Would this be the HEI going bad, or do i need to look for something else where?.....thanks.....

 

Didn't say what carb or TBI? Quadrajet? Don't care how good your HEI is....difficult to fire large amounts of raw fuel and not much air.
