Hello, can someone help me identify my engine? The only marking I can find on it is the firing order. It looks like a small block Chevy. It came in the 1957 Bel Air I just bought (project car). I was told it was not the original. The oil filter is a Fram PH-30 and the plugs are Autolite 26 (which I crossed to AC Delco R45TS). Thank you.
Thank you for your info. I have no markings on the front. I can't see the back of the block. Someone said it may be a crate engine. I did run the carb numbers. 1963 Chevy.
I'll keep looking, The info you provided will be very helpful when I find something.
Thank you
Remove the air cleaner for a better view of the rear of the block. The casting number should be on the “ledge” of the block behind the driver side head - it may also be on the lower end of the block, near/under one of the exhaust manifolds.
