Default help please: 92 blazer sport

Not sure where to post this.
We have a 1992 chevy blazer Sport. Full size 2 door 4 WD. My wife called today and said the gauges started going weird and the wipers are on, and stay on. I went to get it, and the gauges are acting weird. The battery gauge is all the way to the left with no movement, the oil pressure guage reacts somewhat, the gas gauge reads lower than it is, the temp guage is maxed out, the speedo works but jumps around, the wipers are on all the time. When I roll down the electric winows all lights dim and they move very slow. All fuses look OK although I cannot see the slois silver one that says Battery as it is not transparent. I am hoping someone here can tell me a fix so I do not have to bring it in for repair. The battery as well as the alternator are only around a year old as I replaced both back then. Any one help? Please? <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

Hi walleye,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

What probably ate your battery and alternator to begin with is corroded battery cables. In order to level the playing field(and also avoid allowing the same cables to eat your starter) I would recommend the least expensive alternative to you.

Replace BOTH your battery cables, and your engine-to-firewall ground strap.

You were spot on. It was the ground to Chasis. Thank you very much.
