I have a 2008 5.3 avalanche, always get my oil change at chevy, never added oil, truck never smoked, never had to add oil. I recently had a check engine light come on went to chevy dealer that told me i needed intake manifold gasket.They did manifold gasket for 600.00 now every morning i starter the truck blue smoke come out of exhaust. Had to add oil for the first time since i own truck, brought back to dealer he said they did nothing wrong gaskets were installed properly manager said maybe rings are going bad. i said so chevy engines only last for 70,000 miles he said no maybe just your truck. any idea what it could be thankful for any ideas. Thank You

 

the 08 5.3 with afm are known to have oil consumption problems. that said, I can't see how changing an intake manifold gasket...even if done wrong would cause oil consumption.
