Default Ignition Lock Cylinder....Couple Questions...

All,
Never replaced the lock cylinder before and my 1993 GMC Truck (c1500) has been giving me grief.

Started off getting harder and harder to hit the "start" point and finally started getting hard to turn... to the point that the black plastic piece broke off and now I am using a screwdriver to start once its unlocked. Just recently its very difficult to hit the start point and about impossible to turn off.

So last week I ordered the lock cylinder and it arrived last night and I hope to replace before weekend.

So with the idea that I would like to avoid taking this vehicle out of service more than a few hours. Is there anything else that could be causing the above issue?

Thanks,
Chris
