Incorrect oil capacity on 4.3l ecotec
Hello!
I’ve been servicing new 4.3L ecotec engines in the Chevy Express Vans.
Online and with the dealer this engine is calling for 5.7L. This is incorrect as it takes closer to 6.9L with a filter to reach the max mark.
I am not sure if this is only for express vans or the trucks as well with 4.3L ecotecs. But i've experienced this with more than 2 express vans.
I’ve seen some forums with people stating the dealer has been underfilling and their truck takes more than 5.7L.
After doing a few services i decided to take one truck to the dealer and have them pour in 5.7L. My assumptions were correct, 5.7L barely met the bottom of the dipstick they will be reporting the capacity issue to GM to update and test the capacity.
Hope this helps someone who may have thought they were crazy like me while doing an oil change on these ones.
