I'm recently retired and new to the forums. Just getting ready to begin "resto-moding" a '77 corvette. The base car was an L-82 4 speed but have had a slew of them
(and others) over the past 4 decades, so accumulated lots of "spare parts", including a Doug Nash 5 speed, 3 extra SBC blocks ( 2 aluminum )
and one iron 400 sb that was planned to become a 377 resting in a '57 MGA with C4 suspension ( sadly, that project was interrupted and the car .body is gone ) anyhow...
have some good parts to restore the '77. Am planning to install a 377 ci engine with a mechanical or hyd roller cam (not drag race) backed by the 5 speed. Not sure
which heads yet, but maybe AFR 195's or something in that neighborhood. I picked up a set of side mount headers. Due to the required positioning of O2 sensors behind the collector, probably will not be able to use EFI . The car has an L88 hood (no cold air box yet) so there is 3 or 4 inches more clearance than usual for an intake, which is what I'm wondering about. It IS true that single 4 barrel carbs are dependable and work great but would like to use something a little more interesting and/or unique as long as it runs well. There doesn't seem to be an abundance of dyno-data comparing a base line single quad setup to others, including a weber or dellorto configuration which is one of the possibilities.
Currently have a car using a Dellorto setup for 15 years now and it runs fine but not sure how other intakes would compare. Would appreciated any thoughts you might have and hope the rest of the week goes well!
