Default Keeping radio controls

I have an '04 Impala with an AM/FM/cassette and am wondering if I permanently lose the various system controls such as auto-lock options, fob options, and oil change reminder reset if I install an aftermarket stereo. I contacted Crutchfield and they basically said yes, I would lose them. What to do?

Can I dream that Chevy would have beed sooooooo cool and thrown some preamp leads into the back?

Also, is there a way to access trouble codes without one of those OBDLMNOP thingamawhatzits?

Any thoughts

There are aftermarket modules that you can purchase that will allow you to retain these functions. I know for sure there is one that covers airbags, locks, ect I also know there is another module you can buy that will keep your steering wheel controls as for if one will do both I am not sure. The first module for the airbags ect it will run you between 100 and 150 CDN.

Where would I look for them? Crutchfield is one of the biggest sources I know of.
