keyless entry question

Greetings All,
My 1998 express van came with power door locks, but not keyless entry(at least, not the push-button transmitters). I have asked several parts houses what I need to do to install keyless entry, and they have said for me to find out if the van came with keyless entry. Is this a receiver of some kind that receives the signal from the push-button transmitter? If so, what does it look like and where would it most likely be installed? I bought the van new, so I know nothing like this has been installed on it, however, it may have been installed at the factory. What else do I need to do to accomplish keyless entry? BTW, both front door locks have broken and won't accept the key. I have to access the vehicle by using the key on the back door and using the power lock to unlock all doors.
Thanks,
