Default Larger Distributor Base

I have a 56 Chevy Bel Air and I've upgraded from a stock distributor points to an HEI Distributor; however, the HEI Distributor is larger in diameter at the base and when I try seating it flush; it won't go all the way down because it's hitting up against aluminum Eldebrock intake manifold? Thoughts on how to rectify dilemma?

Regards,
Josh

Get a distributor designed for that intake.

If you're going to run a high rise manifold, you need to have a distributor to fit that,
