Default loss power

I have 1995 Chevy cavalier 2.2L one day I heard a knocking noise then it went away. a few days later I'm driving and it seem like it loss power not going over 25mph and I hear a noise as if my left tire blew. I parked the car. checked everything I noticed that one of the spark plug wires had a hole in it changed that. egr valve was clogged change that and cleaned the catalytic converter. I tried getting the codes read for it at my local parts store but they didn't have anything to read it since its. a 95 I tried getting the code myself with a wire and it didn't work. I'm like lost and need the car running ASAP. any ideas or advice on where to start would be nice ! Thanks!!!!!

Check your fuel pump and make sure it is fine. If Chevy cavalier dying while you are driving, it is your alternator. If it is your alternator, all of your dash lights will come on while your driving, and you will lose power to all of your electric components such as your ABS, Tracking, headlights, radio, battery, emergency brake, and all your lights will dim. Replace the alternator. You can get the alternator for your 1995 Chevy cavalier at 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier Alternator Parts from Buy Auto Parts

um...how did you "clean the catalytic converter"

if it made a loud sound like a tire blowing im sure something came apart or has a hole in it that shouldn't...find that and you'll have a direction to go

sorry i meant that the guy helping me gutted the cat to see if that would fix the problem, it didnt so, I checked the spark and the fire on the spark plugs are orange and not a bright blue or white. The car runs but runs crappy, I recently changes to 2 coil packs that I got from pick n pull. the fire is still orange and the problem still presist is there anyway that my spark issue could be related to the ignition module or something else?
