Default low volume when using aux input on radio

When plugging my Ipod Nano 4th Gen. into factory radio in my 2007 Tahoe LS using the auxillary input, the volume becomes very low. I have to increase volume on car radio to near max to reach a level where Ipod volume is comparable to the radio volume. I have checked the volume on the Ipod, and it is maxed out. I have also used a different cord with same result.

Anybody had this same problem? If so, what was done to compensate or correct it? I hate fm modulators, so I hope there is a solution that does not call for one.

I am relatively new to this forum and have not had extensive opportunity to review all the threads to see if this has already been addressed, so I apologize in advance if it has. A quick search did not reveal any obvious matches. Thanks for the help.
