LT Airride on '02 'Burban
My Suburban has the LT airride system, and it quit working.
I am assuming it's just the pump burned up, but was wondering if therre are other things I should check ou first before just swapping out the pump and find out it's something else.
How does the system actuate?
Please excuse my ignorance. I'm pretty mechanical and I do have a book on this truck. It doesn't say anything in it to help me figure this out.

You have air shocks and a compressor which is controlled by a height sensor in the rear. When the vehicle gets loaded up it kicks on the compressor until it gets to the proper height then shuts off. Once the load is removed, the sensor detects the height again, opening a solenoid valve letting air out to lower it down to level.
What happens with these things is the air shocks will eventually get small leaks causing the compressor to run more often and for longer periods. This eventually overworks the compressor and burns it up. The dealer gets about $400 each for the shocks and $400-500 for the compressor.
The best option is do the conversion kit. It is less expensive. Trouble free and will make the vehicle handle better.

I happen to work there and deal with air suspension problems for a living. Give me a call and I can tell you all about it.
