Motor Swap Trans Question
Hi,
Ive got a Land Rover that I am looking to transplant a 4.8 V8 into. My dad has a chipped 4.8 and its been a great motor and its power numbers are more than enough to move the monster smartly but not endanger the stock transmission. My question revolves around the stock computer. I realize that these are all drive by wire throttles so I will need to transplant the gas pedal assembly to make it work but before I shell out the big bucks on a stand alone kit, I would rather use the stock ecu since itll be on the motor when I receive it. So, here is my question: Is there going to be a problem with the lack of communication to a GM transmission? The trans in the Disco is mechanical and self contained using no computer at all. I am hoping that I will not need to also transplant the 4L80E to make the stock computer work. If thats the case, Ill find a stand alone that will work well for the motor.
Thanks and hope you can help!
