Default My GMC truck's engine question

I have a 1978 GMC Sierra and it has a 350 oldsmoble engine, I bought the truck off a guy about a year ago that told me that it was a 1973 engine but when i checked the engine's casting number (557752 - 3B) I found out that it was a 1977-1980 Oldsmoble 350 engine and I hear that they were poorly built blocks. can someone confirm this for me.

this is the passanger side/\ this is the driver side\/

thanks for your help.

Those motors are not the best, they are like a4000 maby 4500 rpm motor, The problem is you cant really push any power out of them, the cranks fail, and parts are hard to get for them, well atleast they are hard to find here in Newfoundland.

If your not going to torture it, and you keep the oil changes to it you should be ok, or you could try to blow it up, that would give you a reasion to put in a real 350 hehe
