Default need some 1979 chevy truck knowledge

Hello, this is my first post, so thanks for having me!!!! I have a 1979 chevy short bed race truck, I have a 12 bolt rear with a richmond 4.56 bolted to a series 3 carrier, the rear measure 58.25" from inside of dust cover to dust cover. I broke the ring and pinion at the track a few days ago, from the little research ive done it looks as though the truck 12bolt is weaker than the car 12bolt and richmond gear only makes a few gears for the 3 series. My question is, what car 12bolt is the same measurements as the truck 12bolt, It looks as if the 4 series carriers are plentiful with parts and they also appear to be stronger. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Im sure there are alot of old school drag racers out there that have dealt with this before. THANKS
