Default Need some opinions on an issue.

I just had my tramsmission rebuilt and installed. (Just putting that in there incase.) The next day I after driving it back from work the previous night I started it and big puff of what looks like white smoke came from the exhaust. It went away and when I revved it it blew just a little bit of smoke each time. It drove fine no overheating and there has been no leaking. Any suggestions?

ok so its a gasser. pull a spark plug and see if the plug has ash deposits on the center electrode. if yes, the valve stem seals may be bad....they can cause a puff on start up. if thats ok, do a dry and wet compression check. if low on dry but come up wet, the piston rings may not be sealing, the engine may be tired. how old and lots of miles?

If your concern is that it's associated with the tranny work, don't think that will affect what you are seeing. Follow Tech's advise, especially with a 200k motor. BTW how often do you add oil between changes?
