Default No 1-4 on my fan

I just bought a 2003 4WD Silverado with a Vortec 5300 V8, Airaid induction, and Gibson catpack exhaust. Has 207,000 highway miles on it and runs and looks like new inside and out. One minor problem is that my fan only works on 5. 1-4 are out. Been reading about resistors needing replaced, but everyone talks about 1-2 being out, and 3-5 still working. Is this a resistor issue? If I get the right part, is it truly a DIY job for a non-mechanic? I'm okay with tools, but don't really work on cars.

Sounds like the resistor, it maybe called the fan control module on your truck. It is a very easy job.

Thanks, Tahoe.

My original plan was: Buy the part, work for two hours on a half hour fix, then take it in to the shop so they could fix what I took apart. Sounds like I might be able to handle it on my own though. Thanks again.
