No Crank no start
I have a 2003 tahoe. For several months I would intermittently have instances where I'd crank the key over, with no noise or action whatsoever from the starter. However, I could generally tap the starter once and it would then start with no problem. Let me back up some and also point out that I've had something drawing my battery down for several months as well. I've been disconnecting the battery when I'd get out (With a quick disconnect switch) . So last night my luck ran out it appears and the "tapping" the starter did not work after several attempts so I had to be towed home. So I pulled my starter off today and checked it with jumper cables and a battery, the starter turned fine but the bendix did not kick in. I'm just wondering if the tapping that was working previously was freeing the bendix to kick in or if it could have been a loose connection. It seems to me if the bendix was "stuck" it would have still made a noise around the starter. Thoughts appreciated though I'll at least have a new starter tomorrow.
