Default no spark, 97 vortec 5.7

I just replaced the intake man. gasket on my 97 1/2ton 4x4 5.7l. I thought my markings on the distributor were on but they must not have been. So I went to TDC #1 on compression and possistioned the rotor to the #1 post on the cap. Nothing. I have power to the coil but no spark fron the coil wire. I was told that the position of the dist is more percise than what I've done and I could be a tooth off. Would this also cause the coil to not fire? Seems like the coil would be unaffected. I also checked connection of the crank sensor under the motor, seemed to be in well with clean connections. I'm lost, any suggestions of what to check next? Thanks.

should still try to fire some even if you have it off a tooth.
You have a ignition module beside of coil .. that fires coil.
Crank sensor if bad will cut spark off.
Your getting fire to coil... check all wires at coil getting good connections.
Check coil wire going to dist. Maybe coil is bad.
Only thing dist does on your truck .. makes sure spark is getting to right cylinder .. by using cam sensor and rotor button.

Thanks for the reply. I found it!!! I must have dropped the dist. half a dozen times (all correctly). I finally started to backtrack. I disconnected all plugs, removed one thing at a time to retrace my installation of my intake man. I would have dissassembled until I found something. Luckly.... When I got under the truck and inspected the crank possition sensor, I noticed it didd'nt plug in correctly. It would plug all the way but it just didd'nt feel right. One of the 3 prongs was bent to the side, so only 2 of the 3 were connecting. Put everything back on, and she fired right up. Needle in a haystack. Good lesson, take your time with every step of a re install. It was my mistake, I just shoved it in without care and it cost me a whole day of misery, cussing, throwing things, and went to bed pissed that night...
