Parking Lights/automatic headlamp

Parking Lights/automatic headlamp
HI all,
I've a question concerning the 2005 chevrolet suburban/tahoe.
I'm wondering, if i set the light switch to parking lights, does that mean the parking lights override DRL's and automatic headlamps? In other words, if my lights are set on parking lights and im driving at say 5pm its getting dark, will my headlamps come on automatically or is up to me to turn them when deemed necessary.
Ive read the owners manual, and it explains the different light settings. What I want to know though is if i have my switch set to parking lights (thus not off, not auto, not headlights), does the automatic headlamp come on when it gets dark?
Thanks

I've looked through your owners manual and it does not show that the automatic headlamps would in fact come on in the scenario described above. The way this would happen would be if the selector were set in the Auto position. I hope that helps to answer your question.

Welcome to the forum,
On my 07 Tahoe, its been my experience that you can over ride any automatic light setting between stop and start events.. Once your vehicle is started you can turn off your DRL's (a nice feature if you are a hunter and want to go out at dusk/dawn without lights)
Leaving your switch in the head lights or parking lights position will leave them on even with the ignition off and they will not reset at key stop or start.
Only being in the auto position will result in a reset.
