Default Automatic Headlamp System

I recently purchased a '99 Silverado and i'm having a problem with the headlights. The Automatic Headlamp system turns the lights on at night no matter what and i cant find a way to turn them off. On the newer models like my friends '05, you can turn the **** to the left of the off position to turn this feature off, but there isnt a way to on mine. I've heard something about using the Dome Override button in a certain combination, but i cant figure out a way to.
Sometimes at the deer lease you wanna turn off your lights way before you get to the stand, or turn them off when you are turning around in someones driveway at night, but i cant!

Anyone have any ideas?

On the 99 year trucks you can't turn that feature off. The headlights and Daytime Running Lights cut off when the parking brake is applied. Press the parking brake just enough to cut off the lights without actually engaging the parking brake. I remember seeing a kit for sale on the internet once that provided a button on the dash to diable the automatic lights, but I can't find it now.

try pushing your dome overide button on and off 4-5 times in a row. that may disable the automatic headlights

I tried the parking break idea, but there are 2 problems. You have to do it before you crank the truck, and it cant be down just a bit, it has to be engaged. Tried the 4-5 times on the dome overide too. Oh well, the lights may be on all the time, but at least its a sexy chevy.

I am curious to know why you called your pickup a sexy chevy?
I only ask because I had a bug screen on mine that had sexy written backwards on it. It has been broken for a while but I will put it back on.

I tried pressing the dome override button 4 times and nothign happened. Are you sure this works on a '99?
Do you have to do it at a certain time, or at anypoint while its running? Because unless theres a trick to it, it doesnt seem to be working.
As for calling it sexy chevy, i just think that all chevy trucks are the best looking trucks out there. I like the bug sheild though
