Default programer like hypertech

I have a question about programers like the hypertech III I found one for a chevy but are they universal because they lug in the OBD port. I am asking because for a price like that It would not be bad if you could use it for ford, dodge, and even honda, and toyota.

Default RE: programer like hypertech

while it sounds like a cool product, I went to the website and found this in the FAQ's:

Can I use a Power Programmer to program more than one vehicle?
No. The Power Programmer III marries itself to the first vehicle to which it is connected. However, you can program that vehicle back to stock at any time.

looks as though they do GM's, Ford's, Chrysler's, and Nissan's, and when they hit around 05\06, the model selection gets limited.
Also saw that when a new calibration comes out for your vehicle, and dealer program the computer, it will render the scanner inop until you ship it to their engineers to decipher on your dime.
