Default Radio Volume

I have an 08 Tahoe with the the Bose system. The battery had intermittently been going dead. So after some diagnostic work I found that the Bose amplifier was at fault. At times after shutting the engine off and exiting the vehicle the speakers would pop real loud. Then it would pop when turning the ignition on. After doing an amp draw test and found the amplifier to be at fault I left the fuse out for the amplifier and no more battery drain. So I decided that I would bypass the amplifier. So took the speaker wires coming from the radio and connected them to the speaker wires exiting the amp. I left those two connection unplugged from the amp as well as the power disconnected from the amp. My problem now is that the radio volume is very low even with the **** turned up all the way. The door chimes and turn signals are very low as well? Does anyone have any solutions or seen this before? Is there a fix for it without replacing the amp? This is an extra vehicle that isn’t used daily so that’s why I didn’t replace the amp. Thanks!

that's a really bad idea and a great way to fry your radio. I would unplug that right away.

Of course it is. The amplifier was there to amplify the signal.

replace the speakers with base level 8ohm speakers. But I think you're better off replacing the amp, or just getting an aftermarket stereo.

I dont understand how that would hurt the radio. They make specific jumper harnesses for this exact scenario.

read up on speaker impedance and amplifier theory. It would be like hooking a 10,000 lb boat behind a Honda Civic.
