Rear end gears
Alright I have a 99 gmc Sierra 1500 4 wheel drive extended cab. I know a lot about engines. Not so much about gear ratios and how they work...I need help!!!
The rear end in my truck has sh*t the bed. I can still drive it but it squels like CRAZY! Everyone around here is telling me that it is the pinion gear and that I should just get a new one (rear pumpkin) from a junk yard, I have 3:73 gears in it. Ad the cheaper around is 300$$$ sop I was wondering is there a chance I. could use a rear end out of a 97 pickup if It has the same gear ratios?????

Yea, I think that a complete 97 RE should slip in ok, and a better choice than throwing parts in for repair. Just do some general measurements first to make sure.
