SBC 350 to (Corvette?) trans axle
Hello all,
Been thinking about doing a project car (mid engine, rear drive) with the options between taking a wrecked super sport bike and using a chain drive system, or a trans axle system. First thing to pop into my head is the SBC 350 as the engine (rebuilt them before, and many, many, MANY in junkyards). My question is does anyone have any advice on the trans axle to use?
The car would be a slim car (so the trans axle would need to be perpendicular to the engine's crankshaft), is very light, and the space is limited. So power is not a big issue but needs to be said to carry into the 400 HP range (just in case). Cheaper the better as well.
What came to my mind is the trans axle from a wrecked corvette (there is a lot of vettes [which means a lot of salvage cars] in the states), but I may be misinformed if this is even possible or the best way around this issue. Any suggestions? Advice?
Thank you all, regards,
