I have a 2004 Impala LS, and I think my drivers side seat heater element is shot, I understand this isn't an uncommon problem. My questions are, how expensive of a fix is this to have done at a shop?

Is this a job a guy with limited mechanical skills can do? I'm not a total moron, but I'm no mechanic. How much is involved in replacing the element? Removing the seat seems pretty straightforward, but how about removing the leather upholstry?

Finally, how much does the element itself cost, and where is a good place to get it?
